Q + A

How long is the flight?

The average flight time is 9 hours and 20 minutes. Both Air NZ and Qantas have direct flight options, we HIGHLY recommend this!

TIPPING CULTURE?

Sensitive topic. Bali does NOT inherently have a tipping culture and it is not expected. Tipping can actually have a negative impact on a few things, although you may be helping out a family, you're also potentially convincing that family to pull their children out of school as they can make money for the family through tips instead of becoming educated. Bali's wage does not seem like a lot

($300 NZD per month) but everything is relative and the cost of food and rent is much lower for locals than it is in our countries. Food can be as low as $0.50c - $0.70c for locals. We always round up to the nearest dollar or tip a few dollars if someone goes above and beyond but tipping is NOT MANDATORY.

What will the weather be like?

Hot, sunny and mostly clear. Temperatures will range from 21-30 degrees and the humidity will range from 70-80%. During this season if it rains, it will POUR DOWN for about 30-45 minutes then be back to beautiful sunshine.

When should I book my flights?

Typically the further in advance you book, the cheaper the flights will be, however with most airlines you can subscribe for email notifications when your destination is on sale! The main two airlines we would fly with would be Air NZ and Qantas. *Jetstar are also an option but don't have the best track record for being reliably on time, or having comfortable planes but that does mean they're the cheapest!!!

What should I bring?

SUNBLOCK! It is expensive over here so make sure to bring some from home! Spirits/Wine, its definitely available over here but its all locally made and isn't very nice. If spirits or wine are your thing, you can bring 1L per person into Bali through Duty Free. *What NOT to bring: Don't overpack, bring light clothing and ditch the jacket, you wont need it. You'll be buying plenty over here so make sure you have space! Anything you may want is available from the side streets for super cheap. Also, laundromats do exist and are very affordable :)

How much should I budget for food per day?

Obviously this will vary, when you're backpacking $2-$3 per meal is the norm, however, a good holiday budget would be $40-$50 per person per day. Some days will be more and some will be less but this is a very generous in between figure if you're wanting an average.

Do I HAVE to barter?

Short answer, no. If you're happy paying much more than you should or you're outright happy with the price offered then dont worry about it. Bali's bartering culture is STRONG the first price is never the last and if you're down for a bit of good-fun haggling you can usually get what you want for minimum 50% less than the initial offer. Pick a price you would be happy to pay and stick to your guns, but also be sensitive to the fact that the vendors do have to make money. Ryan once got chased out of a store being hit with a newspaper.. don't be like Ryan.

What words should I learn?

We're firm believers in learning the pleasantries of the country you're going to, so we recommend learning at least Thankyou! Thankyou = Terima Kasih (the Rima pronounced like the Maori word for five, and Kasih almost sounds like 'cuzzy' with an S). There is plenty you could learn but at least you can now say 'Thankyou' in Indonesian, look at you go!

What else is there to do in Bali?

Well, if you're not subscribed to our Youtube Channel (go subscribe!) we've got you covered, head over to the "Things to Do" tab and there's plenty of options!

Can we bring a plus one?

While we would love to have as many people at our wedding as possible, it just isn't practical. Invite as many people to come to Bali with you as you would like, but unless you've been given a plus one on your invitation, please keep it to those invited directly <3

How do I RSVP?

On the homepage, click on the RSVP tab and follow the instructions there! Alternatively, email us at readytoberotteveel@gmail.com if you have issues.

Is there a dress code?

You can wear whatever you heart desires. You're coming all this way for us, wear whatever you feel comfortable in! THIS INCLUDES WEARING WHITE!! Bali is so hot and lighter colors attract less heat, please, if you want to wear white, DO!! I truly don't mind at all, if someone is confused as to who the bride is, we have a bigger problem lol. Any and all light colors are not only welcomed, but encouraged <3

Is the ceremony indoors or outdoors?

Both our ceremony and reception will be outdoors so we can all appreciate how beautiful Bali really is!

Will dinner be served at the reception?

We are foodies and have spent a lot of time working with our caterers to create a perfect East meets West buffet for the reception. We encourage everyone to try the local foods but have also chosen some western options.

Are children welcome?

You've come all this way for us so of course they are! However, a note to parents the location will have a large, non-fenced inground swimming pool. We will have plenty of lighting but please ensure your children know how to swim should they fall in. Alternatively we can help with hiring babysitters if you would prefer that.

Will there be any vegan/vegetarian or gluten free options?

We have ensured that there will be plenty of vegetarian option available, if you are vegan or gluten free, please specify on your RSVP and we will make sure you are looked after <3

I still have questions, what's the best way to contact you?
